PSEUDO HOSPITAL OR A MEDICAL MISADVENTURE WITH A DISTINGUISHED KITCHEN.

In the heart of Old Riga-Dome Square at 4 Tirgoņu Street, the doors opened at restaurant «Hospitālis» where everyone can enjoy a pseudo hospital atmosphere. Its creation involved Latvia’s largest hospitals and Medical history Museum, contributing to its authenticity is the fully restored attributes of the diverse medical offices from the Soviet era. Dishes like salted herring fillet, bruschetta with chorizo and campignons, crunchy potato salad and grilled pork steak can be eaten. You use surgical instruments to eat and sip cocktails from test tubes.

THE MUSEUM OF HAM
Not a museum as such, more of a cured-meat-obsessed chain of butchers and restaurants  in the city centre, near El Museo del Prado and El Museo del Aire.  Stop here for a coffee by accident or you should have lunch high quality typical dishes at a good price and you’d do well not to look up, as pork leg after pork leg hang from the ceiling, and in some cases even the stairs. You can find on their website some rdelicious receipes such as puree with Teruel ham and Aragon cheese, asparagus wrapped with ham, roast pork sirloin steak suffed with ham…

ST JOHN BAR & RESTAURANT
Fergus Henderson has won awards for the food at his cool eatery around the corner from Smithfield meat market, but his cuts can be a little especial, even for carnivores. Here you can sample ox tongue, pig’s head and bone marrow. Eihter you go or not, you can read his books  «Beyond Nose to Tail: A kind of British Cooking: Part I  and II» , they also sell gift Cards as a present for a friend or relative who could  enjoy having lunch or dinner thanks to you,  T-shirts  and  bags with their pig logo.
