According to data published by the Spanish Agricultural Guarantee Fund (FEGA) on February 16, the sector has asked for the private storage of 1,000 mT of pork half-carcasses (without the forefoot, tail, kidney, thin skirt and spinal cord). 12.790.5 mT correspond to hams, shoulders, fore-ends, loins with or without the neck-end, neck-ends separately and loins with or without the chump ( «categoty 3»), and 4.741 mT of hams, shoulders and loins («category 2»).
2.042 mT correspond to cuts and 2.079 mT are bellies, whole or trimmed by rectangular cut and 675 mT are belly without rind and ribs.
Regarding the storage period, 11.329 mT are requested to have by 90 day storage, 5.144 mT by 120 day storage and 6.854 mT by 150 day storage.
With reference to regions, Catalonia has the highest pigmeat private storage demand with 14.656.5 mT, followed by Castilla y León with 1.940mT; Aragón, with 1.580 mT ; Murcia, with 1.447 mT and Andalucía, with 945. Madrid applied for 690 mT; Galicia, for 530 mT; La Rioja, for 477 mT; Castilla-La Mancha, for 445 mT; Asturias, for 260 mT; Comunidad Valenciana, for 135; País Vasco, 112; y Extremadura, 40 mT.
